TRAINING NOTES
We use tugs and balls as rewards for the dogs. We prefer tugs less than 3 inches in width, and in length from 8 to 14 inches.
Wider tugs have a good bite surface, but do not fit easily into pockets or in smaller hands. We measure the tug width at the flat
end of the tug where the material is sewn flat. Where possible I carry tugs with 2 handles so trainers may cut one or both off depending on their preference.
The Linen material used for tugs is the least durable, but is soft. Bitesuit or heavy linen is very durable depending on the quality of weave and amount of synthetics in the material. The Firehose materials are usually the hardest and most durable. In general, the smaller widths are packed harder and are stiffer than the wider tugs. Note the Firehose tugs offered here are made of non-toxic hose.
The balls we use are a hard rubber and only partly hollow. The balls most of us use are hollow at the bottom half, the yellow balls are a bit softer and more than half hollow. The leather handle is easier to grab and hold by the hand.
Popular items are highlighted in blue text. Most styles are available in custom sizes.
